Already in 1911 the winter sports club was founded in Bad Sachsa in the Harz Mountains - at that time a capital of sledge sports. In the same year, it built the first ski jump in Salztal at Warteberg. It was renewed after World War I and a second ski jump was added. After World War II, the Warteberg ski jump was rebuilt again in 1947, and night ski jumping events (perhaps the first in the world) under torch lighting were even held.
Also in 1947, the construction of the ski stadium on the 659 m high Ravensberg began. The large Ravensberg ski jump was finished by 1949 and inaugurated on January 8, 1950 after approval by Heini Klopfer. The hill record on the K64 was initially 62.5 m and later 67 m by Karl-Heinz Imse. From 1958 there was also a smaller youth hill there. The larger ski jump became unusable in 1962 due to the construction of the ski lift.
The ski jumping activities on the Ravensberg and on the Warteberg soon ended and today alpine skiing and cross-country skiing are still practiced there.
