History:

Ski jumping in Alppila existed as early as the 19th century. In 1904, the construction of a permanent ski jumping hill started. It was inaugurated on March 5, 1905. It was a center for Helsinski's ski jumping activity for many years. Local skiers were highly proud of the bigger Alppilan hyppyrimäki - K28. The hill hosted international competitions as early as in 1906. The wooden structure had a 2-meter high take-off and was quite difficult to master for many ski jumpers. Also a smaller K12 ski jump existed there. Alppilan hyppyrimäki lost its popularity 1936, when the Herttoniemi complex was expanded. It was finally demolished in 1939.
