At Buchenberg near Kempten in the Allgaeu the first ski jumping hill was constructed in 11949. It was planned by Heini Klopfer and allowed distances around 50 meters. The inagural competition was held on December 18, 1949, and beside Klopfer also Sepp Weiler and Toni Brutscher participated. A challenge cup was awarded to the winner of the competition, Georg Späth sen. from Oberstdorf, for the first time in 1951. However, the following warm winters made the continuation of the challenge cup impossible and thus the hill was already given up in 1954.
On 1974-12-14 the new Haslach-Rainschanze was inaugurated and thus ski jumping activities were re-started in Buchenberg. Andreas Bauer from Oberstdorf set up the first hill record of 34.5 meters. In 1986 Christian Rimmel from Buchenberg won a gold medal together with the DSV team during Junior WSC at Lake Placid and gained the biggest sportive success of TSV ski jumping.
The smaller plastic covered K15 ski jumping hill, which was named after the unwaveringly supporter of local ski jumping Heinrich Rimmel, was constructed in 1989. Still today both ski jumps are carefully maintained and young ski jumpers are educated. In 2011 the plastic covering of K35 jump was started. In fall 2013 the first summer ski jumps on Haslach-Rain-Schanze could be performed and the official inauguration was held on July 15, 2014.
