In October 1924 the newly founded WSV Windischgarsten began with the construction of the ski jumps at Gunstberg, which were planned by skiing pioneer Sepp Bildstein. After World War II, this ski jumping facility was in desolate condition and reconstructed in 1948.
However, in order to be able to host the Austrian ski championships in 1951, in May 1949 the construction of an 80-meter hill at Garstnereck started, and therefore the whole town was working. In January 1950 the new K70 hill, also called Stüblschanze, was inaugurated with the UNION winter games and an attendance of 6,000 spectators. Outside the competition, Sepp Huber jumped the hill record of 78.5 meters. One year later the Austrian Championships were successfully hosted on the new K70 hill and on Gunstschanze (Combined jumping). Only three years later the ASKÖ championships were the last bigger competition on Garstnereck-Schanze, where Torsti Reijula set a hill record of 81 meters. After 1956 the hill started dilapidating, except for a short revival in 1963.
Today, the former ski jumping facilities of Windischgarsten are all dilapidated and hardly recognizable.
