History:
Scotties Mountain (also: Scottie's and Scotty's) was the second ski jumping venue in Rumford, Maine, after Spruce Street. In the 1940s, a ski jump and a ski lift were built there, partly with the help of the Oxford Paper Company. There were also two youth ski jumps nearby, which were called "High School" and "Grammar School" hills. With the expiration of the Scotties land lease in 1961, the Chisholm Ski Club acquired approximately 450 acres of land on nearby Black Mountain and began construction of a new ski resort, ending the history of skiing and ski jumping on Scotties Mountain.
