History:

Williamstown is a small town on the border of Massachusetts and New York. In 1960, under the direction of Olympic athlete Ralph Townsend, who competed in the 1948 Olympics in cross-country skiing, the ski area of the local Williams College was established at Bear Mountain. Two ski jumps were part of the center. In 1980, the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) stopped treating ski jumping as an academic discipline, which lead to the end of ski jumping activities in Williamstown.
