History:

Ski jumping has a long tradition in Luisenthal. Already in November 1911, the winter sports club was founded. The first competitions took place on the jumping hill in the Arlesnest on Kienberg in 1913/1914. It was active until about 1930. Between 1930 and 1932, a new ski jump was built in Siegelgrund. However, this 50-meter hill had to be removed in the course of the construction of the Ohra dam in 1958.
As a replacement, a new ski jumping facility was built in the Zimmertal. The location was chosen on the initiative of Karl Diemar and Erich Köllmer. Work began as early as 1957 and the 50-meter hill was inaugurated in the winter of 1959/60. It had a natural inrun and a stone-made take-off table that can still be seen today. Top jumper Dieter Bokeloh from Oberhof participated in the inauguration.
In 1963, the ski jump was badly damaged in a storm. With combined forces, the then BSG Luisenthal was able to make the hill jumpable again. At times there were up to 40 ski jumpers in Luisenthal. However, in the late 1960s nordic skiing activities declined in favor of biathlon and were given up by around 1980. Today - besides the take-off table - a plaque commemorates the Zimmerertalschanze.
There has also been a smaller 15-meter hill in the Zimmertal since the early 1950s. However, it had to be given up with the construction of the forester's house in 1962.
