History:

Westby Ski Club was founded there in 1922 by Norwegian immigrants and has been ski jumping there ever since. Under the leadership of club president Oskar Villand, the first ski jumping hill was soon built near Holte Farm between Westby and Bloomingdale. Lars Haugen won the opening competition with a total of 15 participants on February 8, 1923 in front of around 2,000 spectators. After the 30-meter hill had been used for three winters, a larger facility was built at Anderson Farm in Timber Coulee northwest of Westby. At the same time, the ski club was also renamed Snowflake.
