After 12 years of construction time, which were interrupted by many difficulties and the Second World War, the Erzbergschanze in Eisenerz was inaugurated on December 31, 1945. The opening competition on New Year's Day had to be postponed due to weather problems. The natural hill was located on the southeast side of the Erzberg at Kressenberg and was supposed to be the largest in Austria. As a special feature, it had a curved outrun. Already in 1946-47, the ski jumping hill was modified by ASV Eisenerz to allow jumps of up to 85 meters. However, during the competitions for the "Bergkristall" distances of around 60 meters were more likely to be achieved. International competitions are also said to have taken place there. The ski jump was probably used until the 1970s, before the new Erzbergschanzen at Ramsau were built.
