History:

Around 1930 the old ski jump at Geiersberg between Eibenberg and Kemtau in today's Burkhardtsdorf municipality was given up. Instead, the "Arbeiter Turn- und Sportbund" (ATSB) built a new ski jump in the south-east of Kemtau, on a piece of forest called "Steinhahn". The Turnerschanze was inaugurated on 02/21/1932 with a "snow runners meeting" in front of 2000 spectators. In the 1930s, the Kemtau Ski Club also held competitions there, with jumping distances of up to 30 meters. With the outbreak of World War II, the ski jumping activities ended and the approx. 12-meter high inrun tower became firewood during the war years. It had previously collapsed in a storm at least once, but was then immediately rebuilt.
