Innsbruck-Igls is known to winter sports fans today mainly because of the Olympic ice canal bobsleigh track and the Patscherkofel ski area. On the Heiligwasserwiese on the Patscherkofel, however, there was once also a ski jump built by the Igls sports club at the end of 1923. The opening competition took place on New Year's Day 1924 with an audience of 3,000. Up to the completion of the Bergisel-Schanze - and beyond - top-class competitions were held on the Igler Schanze, which was improved in 1926-27. In 1932, even a new inrun scaffold was erected to enlarge the hill and enable jumps over 50 meters.
For some time, there was also a 15-meter youth hill in the village behind the Iglerhof.
