Skiclub Andermatt was founded on December 13, 1903 and on new year's eve 1905 the first official competition was hosted, which meant at that time a cross-country run, ski jumping, and alpine skiing.
It took place on the ski jumping hill at Urseren/Gurschen forest, next to Grand-Hotel Danioth, and Leif Berg from Norway jumped a record distance of 34 meters.
In 1909, the "5th Great Ski Race of Switzerland", the Swiss Championships in these days, were staged at Andermatt.
From 1931 onwards the large Gotthardschanze was used.
