The history of WSV Vomp and ski jumping in the small Tyrolean town goes back to the 1930s. As the successor to the Schlossbergschanze, Josef-Gspan-Schanze was built in 1969. The namesake had provided the property available for this. With the new hill, the youth work could be accelerated again and with Armin Kogler - the world champion of Oslo 1982 - soon an outstanding talent had developed. The national coach at that time was Max Golser - also from Vomp. Presumably, the hill was used until around 2000.
