History:

The Ski-Mor ski area in Chester in Spokane Valley was created in 1933 by William Schafer and Orrin Torrey on the eastern slope of Browne Mountain. In addition to a ski hut, downhill slope, lift and toboggan run, there were also two ski jumps. On February 15, 1936 the annual ski jumping tournament of the Spokane Ski Club took place there. The ski area was only operated until 1942 because there was often a lack of snow.
