Already in 1892, the "Verein steirischer Skiläufer" was founded in Graz and it then organized sliding competitions at Präbichl, an alpine pass located between Vordernberg and Eisenerz. In January 1923, the Styrian championships in ski jumping were held there for a first time, with distances ranging around 20 meters. In the following years, frequent competitions were held, due to the snowsure location often even in April. In 1924 a larger ski jump was set up at Präbichl by the V.S.S. for around 3000 schillings, which was likely used until World War II.
Later, there was a 60-meter hill in the town area of Vordernberg.
