History:

Canyon Ski Resort is a small skiing area right next to Little Red Deer River, near the town Red Deer which is located halfway between Calgary and Edmonton. There were once also two ski jumping hills with K-Points of around 60 and 40 meters, which had been used until mid-2000s.
With the closure of the Olympic ski jumping facility in Calgary in 2018, the ski jumpers of Altius Nordic Club became homeless and found the dilapidated natural hills at Red Deer when searching for a new location. In fall 2019, they started restoration works to make the K45 natural hill ready for winter use again. In fall 2020, also K20 & K10 hills were added for the youngest athletes. In the long run, there are even plans to extend the facility with a K70 and cover the hills with plastic mattings.
