History:

In the 70s and 80s, the Icelandic ski championships were organized several times around Reykjavík. During those championships, ski jumping, like other competitions, took place in a ski resort on the slopes of the 649 m high Bláfjöll mountain. Distances over 45 meters could be obtained there: for example, the winner of the Icelandic championship in 1986, Þorvaldur Jónsson, jumped 48.5 meters.
