History:

The history of the ski jumping hills in Hadersdorf-Weidlingau in Wienerwald is not the longest but surely exciting. The Buchbergschanze (erroneously also called Dagfin Carlsen-Schanze) was built in 1930-31 in Vorderhainbach under the direction of the ATV Hadersdorf-Weidlingau on private property near the Jägerwirt guesthouse. However, the opening competition on February 15, 1931, remained a one-off event, as the property owner prohibited further use.
As a result, the larger "Wienerwaldschanze" was built in the immediate vicinity in 1932-33. The competitions on this hill were real crowd pullers, spectator numbers of around 5000 were the norm. The hill record of 65 m was set by Walter Reinhardt from Bischofshofen in 1934. In 1935-36 the ski jump was enlarged, but the desired 70-meter jumps were never achieved. After a war-related break from 1941-1947, the ski jump was put back into operation. The last competition took place in January 1950, the Victor Reiterbauer Memorial Jumping. After that, the ski jump was demolished.
20 years later and after a few winters with less snow, an idea was created: A new 50-meter-hill was supposed to be built at the same place. The snow for this hill was supposed to come from a nearby ski slope at the Hohe-Wand-Wiese. But the idea was never transferred to reality.
