In Borovets, the most famous place for ski jumping and biathlon in Bulgaria, the country's largest jumping hill is located, too.
It was initially constructed as a K53 in 1979 and was then enlarged into K78 in 1979, ahead of the 1983 Winter Universiade in Sofia. For the Universiade in 1988 it was modernized as K90. The landing hill of the normal hill also featured a 60 meter hill and there were to junior ski jumps, too.
Due to the economic situation of the country the support for winter sports is split. Whereas much money is getting invested in biathlon, ski jumping is not as well promoted. Unfortunately, a positive development is not to be expected and thus the ski jumps have been unused since early 2000's.

Markierung
Shame
Shame this jump is not used - especially with Vladimar Zografski now flying the flag for Bulgaria on the World Cup Tour.I saw a floodlit jumping demonstration at this hill back in 2001.It was a good night out as part of the Apres Ski in those days.Plenty of Gluwien kept us warm!! Would be great to see it back in operation one day.
