History:

In 1930’s at Schmiedefeld small snow jumping hills, on which children practised, stood at Gablonz creek every ten meters. Later real ski jumping hills were built up at locations like Gersgrund, on Stänglich and on the I-line.
After World War II many national and international competitions were hosted on Vessertalschanze (called “Walter-Ulbricht-Schanze” in times of GDR). Today there are only rare ski jumping activities there.
Instead the construction of a new pioneer ski jump at I-Line had started in 1961 under the lead of Richard Möller. Over the years until 1979 this facility was extended to Richard-Möller-Schanzenanlage and is still today used by young ski jumpers. Beside the to plastic covered hills K14 and K30, which were renovated for 130,000 € in 2000, there is the larger jump which was modernized in 2008 and enlarged into a K45 for around 100,000 €. Furthermore, the facility was equipped with a new lift in 2011.
