History:

After World War II, the interest in ski jumping began to increase again. After the small hill at Husebybakken was demolished, new plans were made. Land owners Ludvig Mørk and Halvor Smedsrud offered their grounds and so construction works for Fossumbakken began in autumn 1946. These were finished before the meteorological winter start, however the winter was snow-poor. Eventually, the first proper competition could take place on Eastern.
The original plan to have two ski jumps were fulfilled with the construction of a bigger hill in 1950. From now on, the facility was equipped with floodlights, which were already in use at the opening competition. 103 (!) participants from all regions of the Fylke came to be part of it. And this was not even the record of participants: On February 16th 1958, an insane number of 230(!) jumpers were registred at the district race!
