W latach 1933–1941 Cywilny Korpus Ochrony Środowiska (CCC) zbudował liczne obiekty sportowe i rekreacyjne w Allegany State Park na dalekim zachodzie stanu Nowy Jork. Wśród nich znalazły się także dwie skocznie narciarskie z potężnymi, kamiennymi progami, które można oglądać do dziś. W latach 1935-1979 na skoczniach K50 i K30 odbywały się liczne zawody.

Memories
I grew up with these ski jumps. I lived right across the street from them and used to watch the competitions from inside/outside my home. My grandfather worked as a plumber for Allegany State Park and lived in park housing until retired in 1963. I grew up with my grandparents. Thanks for the photos, they bring back fabulous memories of a wondeful childhood.
My Stepfather was Fran's Elsigan
My mother Jodi Pross dated Franz in the early 70s. The met at Raquette Lake. He had a boat and loved to water ski. He owned Big Rock cottages on Fourth Lake in Old Forge. We also lived with him when he managed Cockaigne mountain during the winters. We lived with him until '74 when they stopped dating. 4 years later they reunited and married for only a couple years. If you have pics, would you please send them along?
Thank you,
Derek
Allegany -- history & photos
I took some photos of this jump (after xc-skiing in the area) and have the hill records, along with other history. I'll send the photos if you are interested. Here is the history: First meet--February 24, 1935; Last meet--February 3, 1979. Hill records: 50m jump, 188 feet, Franz Elsigan (Austria, 1956); 30m jump, 108 feet, George Boyer (NY, 1948). There were two jumps at this site. Also have an old video of skiing here (but no jumping).
