History:

After the founding of the SC Adelboden in the year 1903 and the first demonstration events with jumps up to 20 meters, Adelboden had been called the “ski jumping village” of Switzerland for a long time and provided many Swiss champions, just like the world record holder Fritz Tschannen.
Lohnerschanze was built at the foot of Gross Lohner in Eselmoos in 1919 and initially allowed jumps up to 40 meters. It hosted the Swiss championships in 1921 and 1931. Presumably in 1932, the hill was enlarged for 60-meter jumps. In 1951 the Lohner-village Adelboden organized Swiss champions with events in all skiing disciplines. Until the 1980s Lohner-Schanze still hosted competitions of the Bernese uplands tournament. Meanwhile, alpine skiing has been dominating as the World Cup taking place every year shows.
