History:

The inauguration of the imposing high-altitude ski jumping hill at the Jaman peak above the Caux resort in the commune of Montreux took place on March 31, 1935 Before that, the planned opening on the original January date was canceled due to poor conditions. The competition, which took place during heavy snowfall, was watched live by 2,000 spectators. The winner was the Norwegian star Birger Ruud, achieving the distance of the day: 59 meters. After training, however, longer jumps were expected, because then Ruud and the Swiss Jean Lausseur jumped as much as 68 meters.
The hill, designed according to the FIS guidelines by the well-known engineer Reinhard Straumann, functioned for only 3 seasons. In 1938, its artificial inrun was dismantled due to work on the electrification of the railway line running through the area. The shape of the landing is still perfectly visible.
