The Gemmi ski club was founded in Leukerbad as early as 1914 and the ski jump "zum Turm" in the "Obere Maressen" was soon established. In the 1950s, Valais ski championships were still held there and the best Swiss ski jumpers also trained on the K36 hill from time to time. In 1966, the ski jump was rebuilt so that it was possible to jump up to 50 meters. But then ski jumping fell asleep in 1969. In 1985, on the initiative of Lorenz Possa, the K45 hill was reactivated for the West-Swiss Youth Championships. Competitions were still held there until the beginning of the 1990s.
