History:

On the territory of the present Kaliningrad region, near the village of Pereslavskoe (before 1946 Drugehnen), a K40 ski jump was built in 1920. The town is located about 30 km north-west of Kaliningrad in the centre of the Zemland peninsula, which had been East Prussian since the 16th century and later German until 1945, today it belongs to the Russian Kaliningrad territory (German: Königsberg). Ski jumping was quite developed in East Prussia at that time, so no major ski centre was without a ski jump. The location was not chosen by chance: Here is the highest point of the peninsula, the Galtgarben mountain (111 m high), already used for skiing in the late 1920s. During World War II, Galtgarben was one of the strategic points and until 1945 not a single building remained on its slopes, so that the ski jump near the village of Pereslavskoe was also destroyed.
