History:

The first ski jump in Ufa was built in 1934 on the Cherkalichinskiy Gorge. Today, there is no trace of this structure and the Congress Hall building stands on this spot.
Three decades later, the Ufa jumping centre changed its location: in 1964, a 60-metre facility was built on the bank of the Ufa River near Mendeleyev Street. In 1970, its size was increased to 70 metres, and three years later to 90 metres. An interesting fact is that a sports school building is integrated into the inrun tower construction. This ski jump still exists today. Next to it, there are smaller hills: K-3, K-26, K-40 and K-60. In 2012, they had to be closed because they were considered unsafe for training, but one year later they were reopened, retrofitted with a summer surface. The 90-metre facility is also in need of major repairs: in addition to regional competitions, it also hosts Russian Cup starts, and the inrun tracks still have to be carved out manually.
Even sadder, however, is the story of the large 120-metre ski jump in Ufa, which was very original from an architectural point of view. Its tower was finished with a glass cabin resembling a shell, alluding to alien worlds. The construction of this facility started in 1992, but was put on hold due to the difficult economic situation throughout the country. It was not resumed until the beginning of the 21st century, but it turned out that the project did not take into account the peculiarities of the riverside soil. The structures started to collapse: the lower third of the ski jump could not be saved, and then the construction site was finally abandoned. In spring 2016, parts of the unfinished structure, which had already become a symbol of the location, were demolished.
