In 1967, three ski jumping hills of 20, 40 and 60 metres were constructed in the area of the Leninskaya Iskra village, located one hundred kilometres from Kirov. Just like the facilities in the regional centre, they were eventually abandoned due to lack of funds for their maintenance and later completely demolished.
In 2015, former Kirov ski jumper Alexander Zaitsev built the K25 ski jump by himself. A big dream, some wooden boards, an investment of 10,000 roubles and the facility was ready in a week. Zaytsev says the main motivation for its construction was nostalgia for the old days, he wanted to build a ski jump to jump on it. To date, it has been used for various children's competitions, veteran training and sports festivals.
