History:

Madagan is located in the far east of Russia at the Sea of Okhotsk and already in the middle 1950's a ski school was established there and a little later on its basis the development of ski jumping started. At first small facilities up to 30 metres were constructed, while in 1981 a ski jumping hill for distances up to 60 metres was inaugurated. In 2002 for the first time a night competition was held, which attracted a lot of interest and was then organised for more than 10 years in a row. The local club has trained many top athletes, such as Dmitry Ipatov and Aleksandra Kustova.
Unfortunately, the hill started to deteriorate and planning started for the construction of a new facility, size K95, for which an amount of 14.9 million roubles was allocated, but the project was never realised. In 2018, only the K-4, K-15 and K-30 hills were in operation.
In 2022, the Government Commission on Regional Development approved the use of the DOM.RF infrastructure bond mechanism for the construction of a year-round ski-jumping complex in Magadan. The cost of the concession project is 1.5 billion roubles, of which 1.1 billion roubles will be raised through a bond loan. A grant under the Far Eastern concession mechanism has also been approved for the project. Construction of the sports facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The complex is to be built in the Solnechny district on the Polet sports base. It will include three facilities, which will be equipped with coaches' rooms, referee towers and spectator stands. Special lighting will be provided for night jumping.

New jump

The new jump will be located at the banks of Nagaeva bay, not near the current "Solar" complex. Planning of the jump has started and construction of a modern K95 shall be finished by 2012, according to Russian newspapers.
