History:

In 2017 a group of ski jumping fans from Poland 'inSJders' found out that in North Korea a K35 hill was built in Masikryong, which made everyone believe that this was the very begining of jumping in the country. But on December 2019 the picture has completely changed. During the presentation of „brand new perfect town” planned city Samjiyŏn by dictator Kim Yong Un, observators from Poland realized there's a shape of an abandoned ski jump facility on the ski hill near the city center.
The finding was confirmed by satellite view shortly after discovery. According to the informations collected by fans, a 90-meter ski jump in Samjiyŏn in North Korea was built around 2003 season. Later Koreans probably assumed it was too big for teaching beginners and juniors, so they opened a smaller 35-meter hill at the same outrun, on the left side, and the tiniest K15 in the neighbourhood. Additionally, big stands for spectators were constructed – they looked a bit similar to famous Okurayama in Sapporo. Unfortunately, they cannot even be recognized today due to bush growing on the slope. Latest satellite view (2019) shows the whole facility is out of order.
"We didn't know about them before. Nobody from PRK asked us for any information about ski jumping," said World Cup Race Director Walter Hofer to Polish newspaper „Przegląd Sportowy”. Due to lack of information from North Korea it is extremely difficult to establish whether PRK athletes in fact trained and competed in Samjiyŏn or not.
