History:
In 1963 a wooden ski jump was built at Piękna Góra, a small hill near Gołdap, not far from the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast, which is part of Russia. The architect, Jerzy Muniak, was responsible for the design of many Polish ski jumping hill profiles. The initiative came from local sports activists including Lech Iwanowski. The hill was given a K-point of 37 m and in the following years frequently hosted the Puchar Nizin (Lowland Cup), last time in 1976. The record holder was Wojciech Zabawa from Warsaw with 41.5 m. The facility ceased to be used in the 1980s. Later on, a potential reconstruction of the ski jump was approached several times, but all such plans have failed so far.
