History:
Zielony Las ("Green Forest", also called as Żarski Las) situated at outskirts of Żary (then Sorau in German) was known before World War II for its unusual (for that region) climate at which snow was available for long periods. The local ski organization called Ski-Zunft Sorau tried to exploit these weather conditions and organized there trails for cross-country skiing. They also built a ski jumping hill, most probably during 1920s. The small hill with wooden inrun allowed athletes to jump up to 15 meters. It was one of just few ski jumps which ever existed at territory of current Lubusz Voivodeship.
