History:

In Świeradow-Zdrój, Dr. Joseph Siebelt promoted skiing since the 1890s and the favourite skiing destination was the colony Izera in the heart of the Izera Mountains. Soon the first ski jumping hill was built at the former guesthouse Am Waldessaum (later Sancta Maria). Distances of up to 20 metres could probably be achieved on it. It was possibly the first facility of a relatively professional construction in the Izera Mountains. An excerpt about this ski jump can be found in the book ‘Pioneers of Skiing at the Mountain Ghost’, whose author is Przemysław Wiater. In spite of the fact that more than a century has passed, you can still find a well-preserved fragment of the stone take-off and the characteristic shape of the landing hill is still visible.
