History:

The construction of Jutulen ski jump at Øver-Lø garden in Sørlia near Steinkjer started in 1936 and was completed one year later. Due to a lack of snow Jutulen could only be inaugurated with an international competition in 1940, when 180 jumpers competed in front of an attendance of 3,000 spectators. In 1947/48 the ski jump was modernized and then Norwegian Championships were organized on 1949-02-27. Beside 16,000 spectators also the Norwegian king and prince attended the victory of Torbjørn Falkanger. In 1950’s some more competitions took place there, but already on February 9, 1958 the last jumper went over the bakken of Jutulen. In 1963 the ski jump was then finally removed.
