History:

Already on March 21, 1897 Mo Skilag organized its first ski race, a ski jumping event on Heibakken in Ner-Gruben. After that, there had been a large ski jumping hill at Mo i Rana with Englibakken. The Fageråsbakken was built in 1925 and inaugurated on 1926-02-07. The first Norwegian Championships on the Fageråsbakken 60-meter hill were held in 1938.
In 1956 the ski jumping hill was reconstructed according to plans by Heini Klopfer and enlarged as a 70-meter hill. Subsequently, NM 1957 & 1967, as well as the Norwegian Jumpers Week ("Den norske hoppuka") in 1959 were organized at Mo i Rana.
In 1982 a complete reconstruction of the ski jump as a normal hill followed and in 1995-96 another modernization brought the hill into today's shape as a K90. For these occasions, Norwegian Championships were held on the Fageråsen hill in 1983 & 1997. Furthermore, Norwegian Junior Championships were organized in 2003 and 2014, as well as B-World Cups of Nordic Combined in 2001 and 2006. In January 2002 the hill had been seriously damaged by a landslide, but was reconstructed just in time for JNM 2003.
For practising the ski clubs Mo Skilag (founded in 1896) and Bossmo og Ytteren IL have so far been using the ski jumping hills Munklia at Båsmoen. Furthermore, there used to be another no more used hill with Fjellbakken K67.
Apart from the JNM 2014, Fageråsbakken has hardly been used in recent years. Now ski jumping activities in Mo i Rana shall be revived and an all-year useable ski jumping facility with five new plastic covered hills and a normal hill enlarged to K95 be developed. The plans were presented in Juni 2018 and in May 2019 the first decisions on financial grants for the total around 4m NOK (400,00 Euro) project have been made. Construction works had started in 2020 and in September-October 2021 the 5 new plastic-covered hills were ready for jumping. The total cost for building the only all-year round usable ski jumping center in Northern Norway with lift and floodlights accumulated to 70m crowns (ca. 7m Euro).
