History:

In 1931 the firs Heibakken ski jump at Heistad in the province Telemark, only few kilometres south of Porsgrunn, was constructed.
The three jumps K37, K21 and K12 were then set up in 1975. In june 1986 the plastic covered K45 hill could be inaugurated with the world's first porcelain inrun track. The Norwegian Veteran Championships took place there in 1984, as well as the Veteran Summer Championships 2000 and 2004 were hosted. The hill was already used by ski jumping legends like Ari-Pekka Nikkola, Toni Nieminen, Janne Ahonen, Mika Laitinen and Espen Bredesen, as well as the Canadian national team.
Because of the plastic covering of K45 it was very well frequented in summer time, but in winter there was very often a lack of snow. The last competitions on Heibakken took place in 2009, then the ski jumping facility was closed down due to finacial reasons. In September 2010 even the inrun tower burned down partially.

Heibakken

Disse bakkene ble revet i 2009 av Hei IL til stor sorg for de som hadde hvert med å bygget og brukte dem. Siste rennet ble avholdt i juni 2009 med alle landets beste rekrutter på plass!
