In 1897, the chairman of the Skiklubb Reidar, Teie Hovedgård, signed a contract with landowner Fredrik Sundby. In the beginning, it was valid for five years and the costs for the tenant were 55 Norwegian Crowns (around 5 Euros) as a signing fee and additional 20 Crowns (around 2 Euros) per year. Shortly afterwards, the Kikutbakken was built. It was the first ski jumping hill in the Vestfold region, where organized ski jumping took place. In 1907, there was even a competition, which was visited by around 1,000 spectators.
