The first ski jumping hill at Jøssingkollen was built in 1941, during the Nazi occupation of Norway. While the official name of it was Hamborgstrømbakken, the people kept on calling it Jøssingkollen was a sign of demonstration. Eventually, in 1951, it was called Jøssingkollen. Shortly before, two more ski jumps were built, which also raised the numbers of participants at the competitions. 500-700 jumpers were not a rare phenomenon, but rather standard. This changed at the end of the 1960's, when ski jumping lost importance in Drammen. The last competition was held in 1969.
