History:

While the "idiot hill" is a colloquial word for a beginners' slope in Alpine Skiing, the name for the location of this ski jump has a serious background.
At Ullevålsveien 72, there used to be a department for "mentally retarted boys" and nearby, at the Bolteløkka Alley, so-called "ab-normal classes". Which led to the use of the word "idiots" for the boys and one manager of the institution even called himself "the over idiot".
The first ski jumping competitions on this green hill, which got the official name only in 2020, were organized in 1930, after the Varg IL club set up the ski jump. Varg IL merged with Frigg in 1954 and saved the tradition, but only until the end of the 1950's.
Nowadays, a public underground parking area is below the area of the former ski jump.
