At Asker, a city with 50,000 inhabitants with large suburban comunities, there have been ski jumping activities already since 1889 on several hills.
At first Herklibakken at Semsvik was used for ski jumping from 1890 on, after that Fjelkenbakken at Skaugum was inaugurated in 1891.
