History:

Before World War II, Kullerudbakken was an all-natural ski jumping hill, which allowed jumps up to 20 meters. After the war, Varteig IL decided to enlarge the ski jump. Fundraising was started and a couple of forest owners gave timber to the volunteers, which they could use for constructing the inrun tower. In addition to that, some other materials were picked up from the disused German camp at Knatterud. The club received 2,000 Norwegian Crowns (around 190 Euros) in betting funds and another 1,000 Norwegian Crowns (around 95 Euros) from the municipality of Varteig.
After many working hours, the new Kullerudbakken was inaugurated on January 28th 1951. Kåre Fossem jumped the hill record with 32 meters in this event. However, the ski jump did not have the best reputation, because it was difficult to jump, like its predecessor. During this competition, there were a couple of nasty falls, after which to jumpers had to be brought to hospital. It should remain the only official competition on this ski jump, since the conditions in the following years were too poor.
This also led to the fact that this version of the ski jump did not last for long, the inrun tower was demolished already around 1960. However, later on, there still was ski jumping at this place in the 1960's and 1970's, on a much smaller ski jump.
