History:

In the skiing region Les Cedars in Bsharri a ski jumping hill was set up at the end of 1960's. The initiator of the construction was the local skier Serge Nader, who also had a big influence on the skiing competitions in the area. The ski jumping competitions were held under the auspices of the MEA-Airliban and although the distances achieved were not great (about 15 metres), they were quite popular. Interestingly, on at least two occasions (in 1968 and 1969), the competitions were held at international level and the highlight of the programme was the rivalry between the Saint-Georges Yacht Motor Club and the Cypriot skiers of the Cyprus Ski Club. A relatively large number of athletes and even one female athlete took part in the competition - Lina Saliba, whose jump opened the competition during the 1969 event. The jump at Les Cedars was probably the only one of its kind in Lebanon and in the whole Middle East (except Turkey).
