History:

Kōshien baseball stadium in Nishinomiya near Kobe was inaugurated in 1924 and with a capacity of 55,000 visitors it was the largest stadium in Asia during that time. On January 10, 1938 even a japan-wide ski jumping competition was held there on a temporary hill, which was build onto the stands as a wooden structure. The snow was brought in from Myoko in Niigata prefecture by 30 trucks. In front of an audience of about 40,000 the longest jump was achieved by Ryuichi Kimura with 27 meters.
