History:

According to the information on the commemorative plaque from 2021, the first ski jumps were performed by students from Norway and Sweden in Weissenhall and later in Rögener Aue as early as 1890. In 1909, the first ski competitions were held. The ski jump in the city park of Mittweida was built in 1931 when volunteers constructed it above the sewage treatment plant within approximately 2000 hours of work. The official opening took place in January 1932, and the record holder was Hans Doctormann with a distance of 28 meters. However, the facility quickly ceased to function due to the ban on the workers' sports club by the Nazis and the confiscation of its assets, which led to the demolition of the ski jump.
