History:

In 1930’s the natural ski jumping hill at Erlbach in former Vogtland district, constructed from 1928 to 1930 in the direction of Gopplasgrün, was said to be the second largest ski jumping hill of Vogtland. It was inaugurated on 1930-02-23 and in 1931 Hirschleithenschanze hosted Vogtland Championships. Winner of the competition on 1932-03-16 was Walter Glass I (Klingenthal) with a hill record of 51 meters.
In 1950’s the ski jump was enlarged and in 1960 a new tower for judges was constructed as well as a 28 meter junior jumping hill. The most successful jumper of the small local ski club was Dieter Hoyer, who was sent to SC Dynamo Klingenthal and even became GDR pupil’s champion with his team.
The last competition on Hirschleithenschanze was held around 1974 and until about 1989 there was regular training from WSV Erlbach on the youth hill, which was situated some hundred meters beside.
