History:

On January 24, 1926 the Geipelschanze at Saxonian Augustusburg was inaugurated. In 1931 large conversion was made and then the jumped allowed jumps on more than 30 meters. On this in its time by the press constituted “ultra-modern facility”, already along the landing hill terraced spectator stands were installed.
Still in 1950's the ski jump was modernized within the national construction works, so it allowed jumps up to 40 meters. Due to reforestation measures ski jumping activities had to be stopped later, so that at Augustusburg today only a summer luge trail and alpine skiing slope are existing.

Heutzutage

Heute wird die Schanze nicht ganz legaler Weise für den Downhill Sport genutzt. Da dies mit Fahrrädern ist, sind nur noch Sprünge bis 5m möglich. Trotzdem besser als sie verfallen zu lassen. Die Schanze ist für ihr Alter noch in einem unglaublich guten Zustand.

Leider m,uß ich den Beitrag über die Sprungschanze Augustusburg berichtigen.Auf dieser Schanze bin ich noch als Kind gesprungen. Das war ende der 50iger. Die Schanze wurde noch in den 50iger Jahren im Zuge des freiwilligen Aufbauwerkes modernisiert, so das Sprünge bis 40 Metern möglich waren.
