The overgrown ski jump in the Brunn district, in the valley of the Schallerbach, dating from the 1930s, was exposed in 1954 by young people who were enthusiastic about ski jumping. They made it useable again for the winter with a wooden take-off. The young athletes also found a coach and in 1956 they were accepted into the winter sports section of the club. Now, even a wooden inrun tower was built, making it possible to jump 30 meters. From then on there were many competitions with large audiences, even night jumping. Gottfried Tuchscherer from Schönheide achieved the record distance of 33 meters.
At the beginning of the 1970s, however, the hill was dilapidated and no longer usable. With the installation and support of the “Dynamo” sports association in Auerbach, the construction of the new ski jumps K28, K18 and K10 including mattings for summer operation began in 1974. In 1977, the facility was completed and the ski jumping hills were officially inaugurated. Then, the training and jumping operations picked up pace again. Spartakiads and district championships followed. The highlight was in 1985 when the “Trommel” cup competition - a central children's magazine - was held in Auerbach. This competition was only open to 12-year olds and the best from all over the GDR took part. At this high point, electronic computing technology was used successfully for the first time in the junior division to determine the width points and style marks.
With the time of the political change, the SG Dynamo was dissolved in 1990 and there was no further maintenance of the Nordic skiing in Auerbach.

We will be grateful for that :)
Hab mir die Schanzen heute angeschaut...
Und die Natur hat sich schon sehr viel zurück erobert. Es ist ein richtig stimmungsvoller Lost Place. Habe viele Fotos gemacht, die ich bei Interesse gern teile.
