History:

There already had been ski jumping hills in Schmallenberg, at Aberg, but from 1960 on, a new, larger, natural ski jump was constructed at Lenninghof. According to the chronicle of the ski club, the costs for this projects were about 28,000 German Mark. Those were paid from community support and also donations, members of the ski club were helping hands during the construction.
On November 27th 1965, the hill eventually was inaugurated, but it took more than two years until the opening competition was finally held. On January 6th 1968, 37 jumpers came together and fought for the victory. Also the hill record was set in this event.
The ski jump was not in use for too long. After a few competitions, Alpine skiing caught higher interest in town, also due to the construction of a ski lift, which started in 1969.
