History:

Already in 1911, the very first “Schanze am Hängweg” was constructed in Warmensteinach and later renamed into Gebrüder-Wehrmann-Schanze. Between 1949 and 1993 14 Bavarian, 9 German Nordic Ski Championships and 4 international tournaments were hosted on the largest ski jump of northern Bavaria. In 1971 even the ZDF reported live from the jump during the sports program “Aktuelles Sport-Studio”.
For the Bavarian Nordic Youth Championships in 1988 the ski jumping hills were modernized. The four Gebrüder-Wehrmann-Schanzen were part of the state training center of WSV Warmensteinach. The K42.5 and K22 jumps have been covered with plastic mattings for summer training. The K22 was last renewed and modernized in 2007 and has since been busy with youth trainings and competitions. The modernization of the 40-meter hill in 2013-14 for more than 800,000 Euro has, however, never been finished and resulted in a never-ending legal dispute - thus, an important training facility of the region is missing.
