History:

In the years after World War II the members of "nature lovers Mitterteich" who originally very enthusiastic about skiing, constructed the first ski jumping hill on the grounds of the estate of Doß family, which is located in the small town Großbüchlberg. After the foundation of TuS Mitterteich in 1947 the skiing division took over the jump and used it in winter times for their own sports activities. The inrun tower and take-off had to be mounted and set up before the beginning of each winter and deconstructed again in spring time, because it was located in an area that was used for agriculture with a small alley running through the outrun.
The ski jumping hill existed until 1957, when it was destroyed by a fire and then shut down.
Worth mentioning is Horst Möhwald, participant in 1964 Olympic Winter Games in Nordic Combination, who cames from neighbouring Waldsassen and also jumped there in his young years.
